It is fairly well understood MAGA Republicans are focusing on school boards nationally. Last election cycle Gov Youngkin of Virginia rode a wave of bigoted fears of Critical Race Theory and LGBTQ+ kids in schools all the way to the governor’s mansion. But even here in the mostly blue Santa Clara County, we are not immune.
While many Democratic activists and voters are rightfully focused on retaining some control of Congress, it would be foolish to overlook the down ballot races, including school boards.
Understanding their hopes of winning many of the bigger races are nil, the Silicon Valley Association of Republican Women has been grooming candidates for school boards. Training candidates how to hide their true agenda behind coded terms like “parental rights.”
