Another reason to oppose extreme racist Jeff Sessions for Attorney General: he is a fierce critic of the H1-B program which has been instrumental in hiring Indians and People of Color from overseas to help the IT industry solve a labor shortage here in America as well as bringing in scores of potential progressive voters who reliably vote Democrat.
The main U.S. visa program for technology workers could face renewed scrutiny under President-elect Donald Trump and his proposed Attorney General, Senator Jeff Sessions, a long-time critic of the skilled-worker program.
H-1B visas admit 65,000 workers and another 20,000 graduate student workers each year. The tech industry, which has lobbied to expand the program, may now have to fight a rear-guard action to protect it, immigration attorneys and lobbyists said.
Trump sent mixed signals on the campaign trail, sometimes criticizing the visas but other times calling them an important way to retain foreign talent.
Remember, without H1-B immigrants, we would lose a lot of talent to overseas competitors. Hillary Clinton, along with Barack Obama were fierce supporters of the program. It is not without coincidence that Donald Trump was the anti-IT candidate who catered to racist white males in the rustbelt promising them to bring back the industrial jobs that caused so much pollution.
The rustbelt represents the high polluting undereducated past while Silicon Valley represents the green and highly educated future.
Now that Trump has been elected President, there will be an economic collapse in the IT industry. If you know any techies who work in IT, make sure you inform them how anti-H1-B Trump and Jeff Sessions are.
