16 Million PG&E Customers Deserve A Voice
PG&E's customers and neighbors have the most at stake in PG&E's bankruptcy, and should be represented in this bankruptcy case. So far, PG&E’s creditors, yes — the rest of us, NO.
Californians who are lucky enough to be in areas where they have a Department of Water and Power or similar local govt supplier of electricity and gas PLEASE ENACT YOUR SOLIDARITY WITH NEIGHBORS — WHO HAVE NO CHOICE BUT BE PG&E CUSTOMERS AND HOSTAGES— by joining in petitioning for consumer representation in this huge case.
Below is the message TURN.org‘s website is supplying for Californians to speak up for our right to be represented in what could just become another bail-out for egregious corporate wealth-fare.
Dear Judge Montali,As a PG&E customer, I have a great deal at stake in PG&E’s bankruptcy case.We customers generate nearly all of PG&E’s revenues, and hence are its main source of income. While creditors seeking billions in payments from this criminal corporation will be represented by a creditors committee, there is currently no representation for over 16 million customers.Decisions about the sale or disposition of any of PG&E’s assets will also have implications for my safety, and the reliability of these essential services.I support the request of TURN, AARP, Public Advocates, the Farm Bureau Federation, Sierra Club and Greenlining Institute for an official committee that will zealously and effectively represent the interests of PG&E’s ratepayers. Please appoint one right away! |
PG&E’s disregard of ALL Californians’ safety and material security has caused such widespread harm that many have no voice to speak up now.
So I hope California kosaks will take the bit of time and make the modest effort involved in helping hold this greedy, destructive corporation accountable to us all.
I myself have been a ‘member’ of TURN for about 40 years. I don’t work for them, and I don’t get any benefit from their work beyond what all Californians get because of TURN’s dedicated coalition-building and organizing in the public interest, especially for low-income, struggling people, US citizens or not.
Thank you all for whatever help you can give in speaking up. What does or doesn’t happen in this case will be part of how Californians receive energy service going forward.
