This report was initially intended to form part of a PWB story scheduled for August. But its message is so important and urgent, it merits its own story, with a plea to anyone who can help.
The warmer months of Spring and Summer are known as “kitten season” which sounds adorable, but actually means that shelter and rescue service resources are stretched to the max trying to deal with the massive increase in tiny bundles of fur. Many are too young to survive by themselves in a shelter situation so this is when kitten fosters are especially needed.
The Humane Society of Silicon Valley developed a kitten rental service to rebrand their already existing foster program, with the aim of providing even more temporary homes to these tiny babies, and support to their foster families.
While this story features the Humane Society in Silicon Valley, there are other shelters and rescue services which are offering very similar programs and any help you feel able to give locally will be very gratefully received.
So what is the program all about and how can you get involved? All is revealed below the fold!
